FADO
Fado is the music of Lisbon, in fact this kind of music started in Lisbon Mouraria/ Alfama districts by bohemians.
We can say Fado is sadness, nostalgia, poety and romance (a bit like the portuguese are)!
The greatest fado singer ever was Amalia Rodrigues (the voice), from the newest generation my favorite is Ana Moura, there are lots of places/ restaurants in Lisbon to experience Fado.

PASTÉIS DE BELEM (custard tarts)
Visiting Lisbon, you must visit the world famous Pasteis de Belém (tarts bakery) open since 1837. Enjoy the favorite Portuguese Bica (expresso coffee). Please remember to sprinkle the tarts with cinnamon. I can confirm that this is a very wonderful experience that should not be missed!

Calçada Portuguesa (Portuguese sidewalk Pavement)
In Lisbon around year 1500, during the anniversary celebration of king Manuel, the mud in the streets caused many problems for the annual event. The Portuguese were the first bringing exotic animals from Africa and while parading the famous white rhinoceros in the muddied streets the majestic’s animal feet got covered in mud as did the people in their finest clothing for the anual parade. For this reason was decided that the main streets of Lisbon were to be pave using beautiful white limestone and black basalt nowadays almost sidewalks and squares are pave with the most incredible artistic mosaic.
Guimaraes The First Capital of Portugal
This city is located in the northern part of the country and is designated a UNESCO world heritage site. Guimarães was the capital of Portugal in the 12th century and is one of the most beautiful medieval sites in Portugal. Here the tourists can enjoy the typical streets, churches and castles, excellent food and the world famous GREEN WINE (green because it is fresh, light and young) the most exported wine of Portugal.

Modern and Contemporary Art in Portugal

Lusitania (Portugal)
Lusitania is the old name for the western part of the Iberian peninsula today this territory is called Portugal.
The Lusitano horse descended from the Iberian horse which is also considered one of the oldest seedling horses (since 5,000 years ago)
