Founded in 1290 by King Dinis the university was stablished in Coimbra (between the 2 main cities Lisbon/Porto). The Cerimonial hall,the chapel,Via Latina,and Paço das Escolas are in the former royal palace,the main entrance is,Porta Férrea,built 17 century.

The Library 18 century is the most important and beautiful section,the entrance is thought the old students prison.
